When you have recitalists of such ability and such easy charm as Roderick and Iain, there is no question about whether their performance will be faultless and whether the audience will go away contented – of course they will. The question is whether their programme is well-chosen and gripping. This one mixed familiar songs with less-known ones and with first performances, it mixed silly with profound, simple with taxing. It gave good helpings of the music of three fascinating composers. It could not have been better.
