Lars Tharp, Ceramic historian and broadcaster gets under the skin of
Georgian England, often with the assistance of the greatest artist of
the period, William Hogarth; when images and objects are combined vivid
impressions of a supposedly genteel period are forged in the audience’s
mind. Born in Denmark and educated in England, Lars read archaeology at
Cambridge before a 16-year career at Sothebys, specializing in
Ceramics; since the 1980s he has lectured throughout the world on
“objects” and their context; a Trustee of the Museum of Worcester
Porcelain and Chairman of London’s Hogarth Group, he is equally
passionate about music, noting that Hogarth himself was an early member
of the Academy of Ancient Music
