Shakespeare's Globe Touring Company
Shakespeare's Globe Trust is dedicated to the experience and international understanding of Shakespeare in performance. Uniquely, its work celebrates the fact that the greatest dramatic poet in the English language lived and worked in London, and that the cradle of English theatre was on Bankside by the River Thames. In 2007, for the first time in 400 years, a travelling company headed off from the Globe around the country. Now this prestigious company comes to Hereford to perform for the second consecutive year at Three Choirs.
Take estranged twin brothers and estranged twin servants, keep them in ignorance of each other and throw them into a city with a reputation for sorcery and you have the chief ingredients for theatrical chaos. A hectic tale of hilarious cross-purposes, manic slapstick and social nightmare.
In a recent interview, the Tour Producer, James Erskine was asked:
"Should parents bring the kids?"
and responded:
"Yes of course! It's a perfect play for kids. Once they've got the one simple conceit about mistaken identity they'll get all the jokes. It's great fun with lots of physical comedy and clowning."
