The highly-acclaimed early music ensemble Stile Antico present Passion and Resurrection, a musical journey through the events of Holy Week.
The liturgical season of Lent culminates in Holy Week - a time of intense devotion, centred around the Passion of Jesus Christ. Our programme traces the key events of the Passion, from Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and His institution of the Eucharist, to the agonies of his crucifixion on Good Friday and resurrection on Easter morning. At the centre of this sequence of English and Continental masterpieces is a newly composed setting by John McCabe of the mediaeval text "Woefully Arrayed", commissioned specially for Stile Antico by the Three Choirs Festival, and given its premiere here.
