This dedicated group of volunteers has been working in the background for the Hereford Three Choirs Festival. Their role is to ensure extra funding to sponsor concerts, which is even more essential today. The Friends also provide hospitality for the many visitors from all over the world and look after the well-being of the chorus, soloists and orchestra.

Hereford prides itself on its Friends, who organise the Festival Club as well as provide the substantial teas so enjoyed by the chorus at massed rehearsals. This involvement dates back to the 1950s when Lady Somers was the first chairman of the then Ladies' Committee. 

It was not until 1975 that the Friends were properly constituted by Mrs N C Bellville. Today, the task of fundraising is far greater. Talks, lunches, concerts, plant sales, raffles, coffee mornings, and now the setting up of a regular Art Exhibition, are all necessary efforts for the committee and its dozens of willing helpers.
