Peter Combe

Although Peter Combe is Australia's best known children's songwriter, he started his career as a writer of songs for adults. In this capacity he has released 3 albums of his folk flavoured songs, some of which were written when he was living in Berkshire in the late 70's and Gloucestershire in 1986. Some of his compositions fall into the category of 'Is this a children's song or adult song?' He doesn't think it really matters and will perform some of those in the concert.

In 2003 he sang at a number of the large rallies in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide protesting against Australia's involvement in the Iraq war. He has supported Paul Stookey (of Peter Paul & Mary fame) in concert and sung with Eric Bogle of 'And the Band played Waltzing Matilda' fame. One of his less successful ventures was busking in the Trafalgar Square underground (he made just enough to cover his train fare home) in 1977 next to a sign saying 'No Busking Allowed'. He was so nervous that he whistled rather than sang. A policeman passed by and feeling sorry for this newly arrived whistler from down under, conveniently looked the other way.

Peter and Johnny first met in 1990 and have been friends and admirers of each other's music ever since. This is their first full length concert together.
