Richard BrasierBorn in Chelmsford, Essex in 1988, Richard began his musical training on the Piano at the age of 10, and the Organ at the age of 15, presenting his first recital less than a year later.

Richard is a prize winning student at the Royal Academy of Music in London, continuing his studies on the organ with David Titterington, improvisation with Matthew Martin and counterpoint with Jeremy Summerly. Richard is currently organs scholar at St. Marylebone Parish Church, as well as accompanist to the St Marylebone School choir. In addition to his duties as organ scholar, Richard teaches piano at the school.

Richard is in demand as a soloist and accompanist, and has a wide reputation for his engaging and intelligent performances, especially of the German Baroque and French Romantic idioms. More recently, Richard has formed a partnership with fellow Academy student and Trumpeter Nathan Richards, performing original repertoire and arrangements of instrumental works.

Prior to his studies at the Academy, Richard spent a year as organ scholar at Chelmsford Cathedral, and then two years as assistant organist at St Alfege Parish Church, Greenwich, where he accompanied and directed the renowned choir. He also appeared on a CD with choir, accompanying them on their 2009 tour to Italy, including such works as Scarlatti's Stabat Mater. He will rejoin them on tour this summer.

Past engagements have included the Orvieto Music Festival (Italy), organ duets in the Chapel of Kensington Palace in the presence of members from the Royal Family, evensong with the Academy Chamber Choir in St James' Palace, performing with the Academy Concert Orchestra under Sir Mark Elder, and solo performances in Britain, France, Germany and Italy. He partook in the Academy organ department's latest CD project, recording on the Welte organ in David Salomans Theater in Tonbridge, and last summer appeared on BBC radio 3 with the Academy Chamber Choir for a service of choral vespers from Neresheim Abbey in South Germany.

Richard has been the recipient of numerous recital awards from the Oundle International Organ School. Past teachers have included; David Sanger and Anne Marsden Thomas, and has partaken in master classes with many prestigious organists. His studies have been generously supported by the Hervey Benham Trust and the Michael James Trust.

Richard is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists and an Associate of Trinity College, London.
