Robert MarkhamRobert Markham studied with Oxana Yablonskaya and Samuel Sanders at the Julliard School, New York, graduating in 1998 with the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts.

He has won numerous prizes at major international competitions, and was finalist at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, and piano class winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition.

He has performed extensively as soloist and chamber player, appearing in Great Britain, the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Russia, Israel, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Robert Markham’s chamber music commitments have included performances with other Birmingham Conservatoire staff members, including Ken Aiso, Rivka Golani, John Humphreys, Rimma Sushanskaya and former staff member Jacqueline Ross. He has also appeared with members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, with American flautist Susan Glaser, violinist Tuncay Yilmaz, and the Edinburgh String Quartet, with whom he has recorded a CD of Kenneth Leighton’s works for piano and strings.
