Choral Masterclass Series in conjunction with the Masterclass Media Foundation (MMF)

The MMF is a not-for-profit organisation which films and records some of the world’s greatest musicians as they teach masterclasses, with a minimum of 30 hours filmed a year to the highest professional standards. 28 DVD’s have been created to date covering viola, cello, trumpet, percussion, chamber music, singing & orchestral conducting masterclassses, and all income from the sale of these DVD’s is ploughed back into filming the next teaching DVD. Students in 60 different countries have been inspired by the insights and secrets of great masters such as András Schiff, Bernard Haitink, Joan Rodgers, Evelyn Glennie, Steven Isserlis, Maxim Vengerov and Håken Hardenberger. Many conservatoires & music college libraries have complete sets of these teaching DVD’s on their shelves.

The Three Choirs Festival Gloucester is joining forces with the MMF to produce 3 teaching DVD’s on ‘How to conduct a Choir’, a discipline missing from the DVD collection, to be led by the inspiring choral conductor Simon Carrington.

Three public 2-hour masterclasses for 4 participants from top music colleges will take place over 3 days, with each session culminating in a formal performance of the works covered. A professional choir of 16 singers with piano accompaniment will be provided.
