Composer workshop for TCF Youth Choir

Composer and conductor Bob Chilcott spent a day at the Hereford Academy this week working with members of the Three Choirs Festival Youth Choir on his Requiem, which they will perform at their festival concert on the afternoon of Monday 27 July (2.30 pm). The young singers were able to benefit from hearing the composer's own ideas about how his music should be performed and also from tips and anecdotes drawn from his vast experience as a singer and conductor; Bob was a professional tenor for many years, most famously as a member of the King's Singers, and has been principal guest conductor of the BBC Singers since 2002. He conducted the chorus of the Royal College of Music from 1997 to 2004 and is well known for his work with choirs around the world, particularly youth choirs.

The TCF Youth Choir has spent the rest of the week preparing for their festival concert with this year's youth choir conductor Peter Nardone, and accompanist Christopher Allsop. The repertoire also includes Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.

Tickets are still available for the concert and can be booked online here, by phone 0845 652 1823 or in person from our Ticket Office at 1 King Street, Hereford HR4 9BW
