Singalong 'Elijah' with Worcester Festival Choral Society

Amateur singers of all kinds are invited to join Worcester Festival Choral Society (WFCS) and friends for an exhilarating day of music making at The King’s School Worcester's historic College Hall on Saturday 16th April.

More than 100 singers are expected to take part in the one-off ‘Singalongelijah’ choral workshop, which offers the chance to learn Felix Mendelssohn's great oratorio Elijah in a day, under the expert direction of Worcester Cathedral Director of Music and Worcester Festival Choral Society Conductor Peter Nardone.

The event starts from 9:30am and concludes with an informal performance in College Hall - which singers’ friends can attend – finishing at around 4:45pm.

Ben Cooper, chairman of Worcester Festival Choral Society (pictured, centre, with members of the Society and accompanist Christopher Allsop), said: 'Anyone who loves singing will have a great time at our Singalongelijah Saturday workshop.  You don't need a fantastic voice or any previous choral experience to take part, but some ability to read music could be useful.  Elijah is one of the most dramatic ‘great choral works’ in the classical repertoire, so we’re in for an enjoyable day!'

Tickets for Singalongelijah, including music hire, are £20 per adult and £10 for full time students (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult).  Book tickets and find out more at the Worcester Festival Choral Society's website HERE, or call 07930 982752 before Wednesday 13th April.

Don't forget Elijah is featured in this summer's Three Choirs Festival programme, also conducted by Dr Nardone, so the Singalong would be a useful introduction to the work for festival chorus members who haven't sung it before, or a refresher before rehearsals start for those who have. It would also be a good introduction for prospective audience members for the Gloucester performance, for which tickets can be booked HERE.
