Three Choirs Festival says farewell to Dominic Jewel

Chairmen and members of the Three Choirs Festival committees, operations directors of the three cities, staff and former staff of the Three Choirs Festival Association office, and friends of the festival gathered in the Chapter House of Glouceter Cathedral on 15 December to say farewell to outgoing chief executive Dominic Jewel. Timothy Brain, OBE QPM paid tribute to all that Dominic has done during his three-year tenure to continue the process of professionalising the festival administration, and to his sense of 'joyous corporacy' that has inspired and enthused his colleagues. Dominic spoke of the pleasure he has gained and all he has learned from working with so many skilled and knowledgeable people wthin the festival community. It had been richly satisfying, he said, to conclude his time at the helm of the world'soldest classical music festival with the anniversary performance at Buckingham Palace, which had provided a unique opportunity for the whole Three Choirs family to take the stage together. He hoped the memories of this occasion would underpin a continued focus on unity within the diversity of the three festival cities as the organisation continues to flourish into the future.
