Purcell Hail Bright Cecilia

Handel Ode for St Cecilia’s Day

‘From harmony, from heavenly harmony…’ So begins this concert in a pairing of works celebrating Cecilia, patron saint of musicians: a fitting programme to showcase the exquisite sound of the three festival cathedrals’ professional choirs. Handel’s cantata explores the music of creation, while Purcell’s Ode is a dancing celebration of vocal and instrumental colour.
