At the heart of this programme lie two works written especially for this award-winning mezzo: Jonathan Dove's Nights Not Spent Alone and a Three Choirs commission from Sally Beamish setting a new text on the subject of birds from bestselling author Alexander McCall Smith. Accompanying these song cycles are tales of the heart's adventure and nocturnal contemplation.
