PIANO RECITAL (EVENT 24) 11.00 - St Francis Xavier’s RC Church Mozart Fantasy in C minor K 475, Mozart Sonata in C K 330, Beethoven Sonata in E flat, Op. 27 No 1, Beethoven Sonata in G Op. 49 No 2, Mozart Sonata in A K 331, Beethoven Sonata in C sharp minor(‘Moonlight’) Op. 27 No 2 The renowned pianist Andreas Haefliger plays some of the finest pieces in the solo piano repertoire by Mozart (Fantasy in C minor K 475, Sonata in C K 330 and Sonata in A K 331) and Beethoven’s sonatas in E flat, G and C sharp minor (the ‘Moonlight’).

Tonight’s orchestral concert opens with the suite from Janácek’s fascinating opera The Cunning Little Vixen. It continues with Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No 1, originally written for Mstislav Rostropovich, while Ralph Vaughan Williams’ superb Fifth Symphony brings the evening to a dramatic conclusion.
