What organisations are we linked with?
Mindsong has developed links with an increasing number of organisations with overlapping interests. We work closely with Artshape Ltd and its New Horizons Project (creative programme for older people) as well as the Gloucestershire Lifelong Learning Department and the county Arts Officer. Our work is regularly shown at venues in the south west, notably Arts and Health South West events. The Gloucester and District Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society assists with dementia training, and collaboration with the Singing for the Brain Scheme (Alzheimer’s Society initiative) is planned.
Art Shape is a long-established Gloucestershire equal access arts development organisation.
Art Shape photographers Amy Freeman and Arabella Ward documented the Mindsong sessions and Chris Chelliah put together the sound track featuring extracts from the sessions, an exhibition was installed at Gloucester Cathedral .
Exhibition
The exhibition made use of modern media material, with colour photographs projected as multiple images onto the pillars of the cloister together with a soundtrack of music made during therapy sessions. A series of large black and white photographs and information posters completed the exhibition. The whole provided a dramatic display which, a visitor wrote, "meant more to me than Anthony Gormley or other video work" (previously shown in the same space). The exhibition was produced and installed by Art Shape through its New Horizons project.
A visitors' book was signed by some 117 people. Comments included:
